We all heard of the High Energy Biscuits. In Fact, TNT transported millions of them to places like the Philippines and recently to Haiti.

But what are High Energy Biscuits. What do they contain and how nutritious are they? In this post i will explain a little bit more about this live saving biscuit.

A High Energy Biscuit (HEB) weigh up to 10g to 20g each. The biscuits have a very long shelf life that can last up to 24 months.
The HEB is not just a biscuit. It is a biscuit produced according the US or EU food legislation. And that means there are strict rules for the nutritional composition per 100g.

Basically its a wheat biscuit containing high protein cereals and vegetable fat to improve its energy properties. The biscuits - apart from tasting good which children would enjoy - also contain 450 Kcal, vitamins and minerals and 15 grams of protein (per 100g pack) which provides over 50% of the Daily Values recommended by European Union.

More specific details are:

Hello Mike, HEBs are very common first food aid items. WFP is using them already for quite some time. There is some additional information on the WFP site or check wikipedia.

Thanks for the information. I've never eatten them but I see that they are extremely nutritious and I will try. I guess this is the reason why they are sent to such parts of the world.

Thanks for the information. Infact the High Energy Biscuits are playing very important role in the lives of Haiti and other people. Malnutrition affects millions of people around the world. A third of all deaths in children under the age of 5 in developing countries are linked to undernutrition. WFP’s role in fighting malnutrition is not only to treat it but also to prevent it becoming severe in the first place.

I am interested on your high enrgy biscuits infact, i have Buyers in Malaysia can you send some details of your product? thank youand merry christmas my email add: rhoda716@yahoo.com

“Whether or not Cambodia should have an NGO law is up to Cambodia to decide. In principle we have no objection against the extension of the legal framework,” it is well said by Rafael Dochao Moreno, head of the EU mission in Phnom Penh.

Sending High Energy Biscuits to Haiti was a great deed. These little contributions during tough times are very helpful in making a good reputation and social image of the brand.

I'm involved with Girlguiding Scotland and we're having a biscuit themed event next month (AUg 12). We'd like to raise money to buy High Energy Biscuits - do you know where I can get a pack of HEB to let the girls see and taste them? Thanks
