Managing fleets in Nairobi

Written by Charles Post

I have been working on the UN compound since the start of January. I work together with three people form the WFP transport department. Francis is supervisor and in charge of the department. She is primarily engaged in planning the cars and the first contact point. Cecilia does data input and monitors everything that happens. Carol is doing a lot of different things.

I spent the first weeks here to get an understanding of the data stream and the specific information from the field on petrol use, mileage and maintenance of the fleet. I checked these data with people in the Netherlands who are specialized on these topics. We found out that a lot of data and numbers don’t match and some input is lacking.

The next step is to use these data in combination of the new toolkit. For implementation, me and Francis will go on field visitis.

From a sunny and warm Kenya, I greet you and as they say here; Kwaheri
