Working in Santo Domingo

It's really a good feeling to be a part of a chain and contribute to really help people on the other side of the Island.

I have been sent to Santo Domingo as Logistic and Air cargo Tracker Specialist. When I arrived I have been told that as a Spanish speaking person I could be tasked to a different job. So I have been given the responsibility of Fleet Manager previously handled by Michael Kalkman as it would be easier for someone who speaks the language to handle the planning, the field coordination, truck tracking and contacts with the subcontractors as in many of these tasks lot of people do not speak english.

So Spanish was ok, trucks planification and coordination slightly less but I had a key card: I worked for many years in the Air Operations and have experience in Aircraft planification and coordination, so I used that experience to adapt myself to that new assignment

After a week in the position I had a very good feeling. We are trying to do as many trucks as we can to get them to Port au Prince loaded with High Energy Biscuits (HEB), Meals Ready to Eat (MRE), tents, medical material and these trucks need to be sent ASAP.

Congratulations mate
