Its amazing how fast time went by during the last 6 months. From arriving in an African country that was totally new to me, to leaving a city that has been my temporary home and where I worked and lived.
These 6 months have been a great experience in several aspects. It’s been great to have the chance to work as an intern in the World Food Programme. It has been impressive to see huge ocean vessels come into Dar es Salaam port and discharge thousands of tons of food. It has been touching to hear stories of beneficiaries, and it has given me a sad feeling to see how many people still rely on daily food rations that have been handed out by WFP in the refugee camps. But, it’s also motivating to see that WFP logistics also manages to get the food to the camps, 1200 kilometres from Dar port, while the railway has been swept away after excessive rain.
In all aspects, an unforgettable experience on the ground, in the field and in the middle of the logistics operations. Thank you TNT and WFP!
