Tales from the eternal city

Knowledge sharing
The first days in Rome were spent going to meetings and trying to figure out what we were supposed to be doing. This was our first time working in WFP’s head quarters, so we also had to spend time navigating this big place with more than 1000 employees. Soon after our arrival we had, however, found our place in the organisation and were already busy designing a new website for Walk the World, writing text for the website, and creating professional profiles on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

Social media helping the cause

These social media together with different blogs from around the world became the platform of most of my work for the following months. Every day I was online contacting bloggers about Walk the World and communicating important messages to our Facebook and Twitter communities. This way I managed to get many people from all around the world engaged in Walk the World, either by donating, joining a local walk or spreading the word about this global event to fight hunger. On the day of Walk the World I was in the office contacting organisers around the world and sharing their stories and walk results online. This was an amazing day full of enthusiasm, spirit and happy people from all over the world!

Back in Denmark – with great experiences
My assignment in Rome is now over, and I’m back in the office in Denmark. Besides new knowledge about WFP and our partnership, I bring back a lot of experience working with online and social media. I look forward to putting this experience to good use in my job in the Nordic office.

Hi Trine, Lets face it ..... you and Astrid did a great job. The profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube are very appreciated. I often use the Flickr photo archive to show friends and family what Walk the World is all about.
