After a couple of meetings, and getting to know my fellow fieldtrip-members, the countdown for the departure has started.

Thoughts go back and forward, gratitude for the opportunity, wondering how The Gambia will be, Ideas to share with the WFP, UN AIDS and North Star, leaving my girlfriend for a week and returning on her birthday, how will I react on being confronted with hunger and poverty, can I handle the heat...

On my trip if I will try to keep you informed on this blog and I will post short personal notes and pictures on my twitter account. You can follow me on twitter @MarcoBeenen

5 days for departure and counting

looking forward reading your stories

Hi Marco, I hope you all will have a safe trip which will be anchored in your minds for ever. You can read and prepare yourselves as much as possible in advance but when you get there it's all very real so take in and absorb as much as possible, I know I did when I was in Africa for a few months.
