Meet the team from TNT Benelux

When I first met the team, they were quiet just talking among themselves and looked excited, a little worried and unsure of what they will see when they arrived into Africa. Most have never been to Africa thus I could clearly understand their feelings as it was once mine too. My role is to facilitate the whole trip and ensure that the group goes through it safely and with a very enriching experience.

I met Marco and Hanny at Brussels airport having coffee when I arrived Brussels. They were actually in the same flight but I couldn't recognise them. I printed their IDs and passports so that I could at least know the team when I see them.

We immediately began chatted. Hanny is a very sweet lady who loves cats, a vegetarian and adores the children in the Gambia. She's always smiling and laughing and she was one lady who always gotten the chance of seeing exotic birds of the Gambia. Lucky her.

Marco is such a gentleman, gentle by nature and speaks from the heart. Very observant and kind at heart. He puts his feelings in everything he does and during our times together is always concern about me and wants to know if I am alright. Thanks for always taking care of me.

Marcel is the "leader of the pack", very charismatic, confidant, introduced TNT to the WFP Gambia very well and is always the leader of the group. We always make decision together. It feels good to have someone from the Senior Management of TNT Benelux among us during the entire trip.

When I first met Hilde, she seemed quiet and reserved but she is far from it. Always the life of the party and she's so fun to be around. She speaks really fast and with my rusty Dutch, I could hardly catch up. She doesn't look like someone who loves to party but when the music plays, Hilde will dance the night away. She's so passionate also about the children we met.

Janny and Manuela are gentle and adoring ladies. The way they speak, react and present themselves will tell you how sincere they are. If you need a shoulder to cry on or two shoulders, you know you can always count on them.

Ludovick is the quietest among all the guys but very passionate. Always taking photos and isolates himself so that he can concentrate on taking really good photos. He always looks serious but he is soft inside. He's always caring and considerate.

Tim is a good daddy who loves his children very much and is very passionate about the trip and what we do. Every child we met touches him in many ways.

The time we spent together these last 6 days was unforgettable and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. Their passion, commitment and desire to tell their stories of what they have seen and felt is commendable and I sincerely wish them the very best of luck as we progressed to work closely with the Twinning Countries in improving their supply chain, reducing their costs and the end result would be improving the lives of the beneficiaries of WFP.
