Roma victor...WFP victor!

Italy, a country that calls to mind art, food, design and…football! So this was exactly what TNT Express Italy decided to organize as a WtW event, a football tournament with the participating teams coming from all over Italy.

The tournament was linked to a fundraising event for WFP and proved to be a success: this year each participating team had to reach a minimum amount of fundraising in order to contribute to “School Gardens”, a project which will help to buy vegetable gardens for schools and that will allow important food integrations for children in Gambia, the country twinned with TNT Express Italy. This year more than 20000 euros were donated and, due to the tragic circumstances that hit northern Italy at the end of May, the money was split between colleagues that suffered the effects of the earthquake and the WFP “school gardens” project.

The teams battled their way through an extenuating series of matches, never forgetting fair play principles, and enjoyed the day. It was a great moment to see many colleagues that almost never see each other during the year finally meet and have a good time together. If you add the fact that the “good time” came with the charity, what could you possibly want more?  

Oh yeah, by the way, this year’s winner was SPQR the team from the Capital, Rome, were WFP’s head office is based!
