Chief Minister Budhadeb Bhattacharjee inaugurated the Eighth International Social Communication Cinema Conference 2009 at Nandan on Sunday, February 15, 2009.

Documentaries on social communication plays a significant role to propagate the message of sustainable innovations which leads to sustainable development.

My story started more or less 2 years ago when i read a book about the work of volunteers of the UNHCR. I realized how litle i now about this work and how much was left to be done to increase the living conditions of childrens and adults all around the globe.

It is almost a month since Roberto and I returned from performing the logistics capacity assessment (LCA) of the Gambia. The three weeks that we spent together at the Gambia certainly left a lasting impression on both of us. As I write this article I am particularly thinking about the evenings I limped back to the hotel after some jogging at the beach only to find Roberto stiff worried about my knee: “Thando, Thando are you sure you will run this Marathon?”

On Sunday the 1st of June 2008 I braved a very chilly early morning start to head down to the Jo’burg Zoo to take part with around 200 or so TNT staff, family and friends to “Walk the World” Walk the World is an annual event that TNT hosts to raise funds and awareness for the World Food Program (the UN’s WFP) thousands of people all around the world take part in this event that is held around the globe on the same day.
