Colour the World is a children's colouring competition designed to promote awareness of world hunger among young people. The competition was first held in 2004 and is open to the children of TNT employees around the world and their friends. In 2007, more than 3,500 children competed in national competitions in 24 countries.
The competition takes place annually and starts on World Food Day, 16 October.
Each year, a specific theme is chosen relating to children and hunger. Children compete nationally in four age categories: under 6, 6-8, 9-11 and 12-14, and the national winners join the world final to compete for one of the main prizes in their age category. Every child that participates receives a small thank-you gift and a certificate.
For the winner of the Grand Prize and the First Prize winners TNT donates $US250 to a school in each of the WFP School Feeding Volunteer countries - Malawi, The Gambia, Tanzania, Nicaragua and Cambodia. The money is used to buy school supplies, sports equipment and small gifts for the children. In 2005, TNT produced a children's book, created by one of its employees, that features the winning drawings.
We have rules for the contest, but we are very relaxed about applying them. It's just a bit of fun, to raise awareness of the hunger in the world. - Henriette van Eeghen

Traditionally on World Food Day we kick off our annual drawing competition Colour the World. This year's theme is 'A Good and Healthy School'. We're asking the children "What do you think a good and healthy school looks like?" more pencils, a book, or a playground? more
