Colour the World 2008: Sharpen your pencils!

Traditionally on World Food Day we kick off our annual drawing competition Colour the World. This year's theme is 'A Good and Healthy School'. We're asking the children "What do you think a good and healthy school looks like?" more pencils, a book, or a playground?

Children worldwide aged 14 and under, are once again invited to take part in the annual competition. Besides children, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren of TNT employees, TNT companies worldwide can also invite children of customers, suppliers of WFP staff to take part in their national competition.

Essential Package
As well as buying food for school meals, TNT funds help to implement “the Essential Package" projects in the schools we support. These projects are designed to promote good nutrition and good health at school in order to give children the best possibilities to learn and develop themselves. The Essential Package consists of various items like food, education, besides that also latrines, school gardens and medical care are part of the package.
With the Colour the World competition we raise awareness for the hunger issue with children worldwide.

Last year over 3500 children participated in the global competition and the Grand Prize was won by Lucia Minguela Nunez , age 12 from Spain. Her impression of the theme “A Celebration Meal” was chosen by the international jury as an all time favourite. This year’s competition ends at November 13 and the international jury will announce the winners in each age category at the ASMM in January 2009.
