Ebay auction raises €15,500 for WFP

A special auction on EBay.nl for the World Food Programme has brought in more than €15,500. 1400 EBay members made their bids. The online auction was held from 16 to 23 March.

Division: TNT Post Netherlands

EBay members could bid on unique and exclusive items made available by the Dutch business world. The items put up for auction varied from unique objects to sports clinics and special trips. Members could make a bid form Totti's signed football shoes, a hockey or tennis clinic, hotel and dinner vouchers and many other interesting and fun objects and outings.

Immediately after the auction's kickoff many EBay members started to bid on the numerous items which were put up for auction. "Initially, the signed Ajax-shirt and the tennis clinic of John van Lottum attracted the highest bids, says Farahnaaz Hussainali of Moving the World. "But the highest bid was eventually made for Monique Turk's painting ‘The big and thesmall cat', with an end bid of €1120."

Items which also brought in high bids were the world's biggest stamp (€1020), the field hockey-clinic under the leadership of Teun de Nooier (€810), and the Ajax-Heracles VIP-arrangement for two persons (€610). The proceeds of the auction will be donated to WFP's School Feeding Programme in Malawi.
