
TNT Express Turkey started the “Clean Vehicle Project” on November 2006 and it became the first company to use hybrid cars in this country. Now, they have bought Turkey’s first commercial electric vehicles.
These three new vehicles have been operating for the past two months and they have an excellent performance. They have inspired TNT employees, their families, our customers and the community.
China is determined to become a strong nation of new energy vehicles by 2020. Shanghai is one of the pilot cities carrying out China’s “Ten Cities, Thousand Vehicles” action plan. This plan gives financial support from the central government to the new energy vehicle industry in Shanghai until 2012.
On July 21st, TNT Express introduced the full electric shuttle van powered by the sustainable energy produced by its own building; and I decided to go for a spin with driver Vincent de Laere to experience this new kind of transportation.
On March 17th, TNT China announced the expansion of its full electric delivery fleet to Hangzhou. This is TNT’s second fleet of zero-emission electric delivery vehicles implemented in China after its pioneering launch in Shanghai last September. Peter Langley, Managing Director of TNT Express Greater China, Shen Jian, Vice Mayor of Hangzhou and Dong Weijiang, Assistant to General Manager of Zotye Holding Group attended the launch ceremony.
Global mail and express delivery company TNT and 30 consortium partners signed a unique agreement to collectively purchase 3,000 electric vehicles.
The purchase represents a commercial investment of €150 million. By introducing a large-scale fleet of low-emission vehicles on the market, the consortium aims to stimulate future demand for environmentally responsible technologies.
