Two of the most remarkable events were the Fight Hunger Week of TNT UK and the Food Bonanza of TNT India.

Fight Hunger Week
TNT UK devoted the entire week preceding Walk the World to WFP. During their annual Fight Hunger Week, employees around the country made a huge effort to put hunger in a spotlight through creative and fun activities, raising a staggering amount of money along the way. Funds are still rolling in from all the events and it looks like they will raise more than £40,000.

Activities included a virtual bike ride spanning the length of Britain, charity pool tournaments, netball competitions, pyjama days, quizzes, mega raffles, a weight-lifting challenge, head and chest shaving, leg waxing, car washing, throwing wet sponges at the boss and swear boxes.

A taste of Africa was high on the fundraising menu as TNT employees re-created a meal of maize and water given to the children in Tanzania – the one meal a day that gives them the vital nutrition to survive. Portions of the very basic foodstuff were sold to help raise money and give people a real insight into how the youngsters live.

Food Bonanza
TNT organised several activities, such as games and a ‘food bonanza’ next to their traditional walk.

According to Roopa Sharath, TNT employee and member of the ‘Women’s Forum’, the food fest was met with great enthusiasm. “Employees cooked scrumptious lip smacking dishes which were served for lunch at the office.” A great many people brought dishes as Chicken Biriyani, Chole Masala, Sweet Kheer, Aam ka Panna, Egg Biriyani,

Roopa: “Our efforts to contribute to ending hunger will continue in the coming years as it has all these years and we shall do ever bit that we can to support this noble cause.”
