“I have seen a lot of flooded areas, damaged houses and affected families in the past week, but hearing these stories from TNT colleagues was quite tough to bear and I am happy to see that our colleagues from TNT Philippines are supporting them in every way they can.” - Peter Cermak

TNT Philippines is pulling out all the stops to help their colleagues and their families. Their houses are severely damaged and many of them lost their furniture and other belongings. ER Team member Peter Cermak, who was in the Philippines last week, writes; “We went to see Sally, who has been working for TNT for 26 years. In order to reach her house, we had to step on a boat and ride through her neighbourhood, which is more like a lake at the moment. When we reached her house, which was still up to the waist full of water, she explained that she cannot live there for the moment. The major told her that by January the water should be gone and they can return to their homes.”

In the last week of September TNT Philippines made relief packs for all the affected families. Employees from all departments helped to identify the needs of their colleagues, purchased the materials and distributed them. Last weekend they repeated this effort, bringing relief packs to 30 families who are still living in dramatic circumstances. This pack provides them with their basic needs for about two months.

Meanwhile, TNT Philippines is doing their utmost to support WFP in their relief activities. They transported 40 tons of high energy biscuits and two weeks ago they moved three tons of WFP equipment to the affected areas. They are on standby for any further logistic support WFP might need.
