Our support

A Memorandum of Understanding signed by TNT CEO Peter Bakker and former WFP Executive Director James Morris at the World Summit in December 2002 laid the foundations for the partnership. Both sides committed to a minimum of five years of working together.

From the outset it was clear that support from the top levels in both organisations was essential for the success of the partnership. TNT offers four forms of support to the WFP.

TNT runs its side of the partnership like any other business unit with the same stringent requirements in terms of transparency and accountability.

  • Awareness & Fundraising

Throughout our partnership, TNT has played an important role in raising awareness and funds for WFP's fight against hunger.

  • Hands on support

TNT gives WFP hands-on support by providing skilled people when and where it's needed. TNT also makes available its various resources including warehouses, aircraft and vehicles.

  • Knowledge Transfer

Knowledge transfer is an essential part of TNT's partnership with WFP. Through the programme, TNT sends specialist skilled people to all parts of the world to help WFP build capacity and exchange skills and knowledge.

  • Transport for Good

As the partnership has matured, TNT and WFP have agreed to work closer together in a number of areas that allows both organisations to act more responsible and which allows for sustainable aid and assistance. Occasionally this also brings along working in close cooperation with other companies or organisations.
