Last week, TNT Express Benelux successfully launched its first inner-city ‘green’ bicycle in Brussels. The electric-powered freight bicycle, known as a ‘cyclocargo’, will cut TNT’s CO2 emission output by 400 kilograms per week.
United National Environment Program (UNEP) and TNT organized a Clean Fleet Workshop for 20 operational and cr managers from TNT, subcontractors and other companies from the Middle East & Africa region. The Clean Fleet Workshop helps managers to develop a strategy for reducing the envrionmental impacts of their fleet.

16 September 2010 – TNT Express France is deploying 15 zero emission electric vehicles for parcel deliveries in Paris, including one Modec truck, two cars, and twelve 3-wheelers. The “Maxitrikes” electric tricycles are perfect for dodging traffic jams. Each one has a volume capacity of 2 m3 and can carry up to 175 lbs. TNT will use them to deliver about 20,000 parcels (below 30 kg) per month to some 12,000 Parisian customers. The Modec truck, with its payload of 2 tonnes, will be used for bigger deliveries.
TNT, the leading global international express company, today unveiled the industry’s first pure electric vehicle fleet in China. The fleet further bolsters the company’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the express industry.
Initially comprised of five vehicles, the electric vehicle fleet is produced by Dongfeng Motor, one of China’s leading automobile manufacturers. The vehicles are entirely locally sourced, including design, manufacturing and assembly.
175 environmental friendly Mercedes Sprinter vans will replace the entire fleet of delivery vans at TNT's Dutch express business and half of the delivery vans at its Belgian operations, Logistiek reported. 'TNT Express initially considered choosing for natural gas-powered or electric delivery vans, however decided in favour of the Mercedes Benz Sprinter with clean Euro 5 EEV diesel motors.
Recently, two TNT China drivers set-off from the Shanghai Pudong depot for a 70-kilometre trip to pick-up and deliver customer goods. But this trip was unlike any other: their vehicles consumed no fuel, released zero CO2 emissions, accelerated efficiently and made little noise.
The drivers were the first to operate the latest additions to the TNT China delivery fleet:
two zero-emission “pure electric” vehicles.
