School Feeding Support

School Feeding Support

The funds raised by TNT and it's employees, customers, suppliers, friends and families go to support World Food Programme School Feeding Operations in the TNT twinned countries of Cambodia, the Gambia, Malawi, Nicaragua and Tanzania. The school meals and take-home rations provided by WFP encourage hungry children into primary school and help them to concentrate on their studies. In this way we contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty and to ending child hunger.

As well as buying food for school meals and take-home rations, TNT funds help to implement "Essential Package" infrastructure projects in our twinned schools. Projects TNT and WFP work on together include: wells & pumps for school drinking water; basic training in health, hygiene & nutrition; school latrines; secure food storage areas; healthy school kitchens, cooking & eating equipment; environmentally-friendly stoves; seeds; trees & equipment for school gardens.

Most of the time, people have to deal with drought, while flooding causes severe soil degradation in the rainy seasons. Tanzania also has a high percentage of HIV/AIDS infection. more
