Student internships
The TNT Global Experience Programme is a special partnership between the world’s largest international student association AIESEC, TNT, and WFP. Through the unique cooperation between these parties students are send to complete a humanitarian development internship in a developing country.
The mission of the TNT GEP is to create cultural understanding and an awareness of humanitarian aid work amongst students.
The internships are open to all students studying in the Netherlands who have completed at least their second year of studies. We offer work experience with WFP, an insight into public/private partnerships and the opportunity to contribute to the development of people and their countries. Travel and an allowance to cover basic living & working expenses (accommodation, transport) are covered by TNT and students organise their own insurance and personal expenses.
The TNT GEP seeks motivated, optimistic, and enthusiastic students with great perseverance and flexibility. Students must be hands-on and able to cope with setbacks. Teamwork skills and openness to other cultures and customs are critical.
Selected students are given assistance with their preparations and a thorough training at WFP Headquarters in Rome. During the internship, they will receive their own project terms of reference and work alongside staff in a WFP Country Office supporting the operation and evaluation of local food-distribution programmes. Students will also travel with WFP in the field and witness first-hand the impact of WFP's food distribution activities. When they return, the students will attend a special comeback day, where they can share their experiences with people from AIESEC, TNT, and WFP. The students will also be assigned some tasks to raise funds and awareness while aboard and once they have returned home.
In September 2009 four couples of students left in order to have a life changing experience.
The application deadline for the group of students who will leave for Africa in September 2010 is 18 April.
