Biography:
I was born in 1968 and grew up in a small village 3 km near the former German/German border. My parents had a kind of "open-house-policy" therefore we always had many guests/friends from all over the world. When I was 3 years old, the whole family travelled for half a year to Israel. During my childhood I have been to almost every car-reachable European country. Together with my sisters I joined the scouts and found out how easy it is to live with less. Being a lousy student especial in English, I was sent a quarter of a year to New Jersey – after returning I wanted to go a whole year abroad and went to friends in Canada. With the age of 18, I moved out home to become a professional freight forwarder 200km away from the family. In-between I joined the German navy and served my country as a communication officer.
In 1995 I joined GD Express Worldwide (TNT) in Berlin as a Special Service agent later I became account manager for media and film business followed by a position as assistant to the Global Account Director for Siemens. From September till December 2003 I went as a School Feeding Volunteer to The Gambia. It was a lifetime experience that I do not want to miss at all.
I joined the Moving the World Programme office as consultant for the assignments in December 2006. Due to reorganisation within the department I became in charge of all the assignments that TNT offer (Specialists, Emergencies, and Student).
I really loved working for TNT (I left TNT in March 2010) a company that started as one of the first to look outside their business and cares about the world they operate in.

Since the beginning of the partnership, more than 70 TNT specialists have worked with WFP on projects all over the world. Over the last two years, for example, TNT supported WFP Aviation to improve the quality of its services. Specialists conducted aviation training courses in all of WFP's global air operations.

did not gave us the image of a school at the first place. While getting of the car we went to see the headmaster of the school - a person about 40 in the traditional dress welcomed us very friendly.
He introduced us to the young enthusiastic teachers and explained that the community decided that they need a school and they started on there own to build up this building. For us it was very nice to see that the community sees that education is very important to develop there village as well as to give the children an better live as well.

Peter van Minderhout, Director Corporate Communication & HR from TNT and Arlene Mitchell, Director School Feeding Programme of the WFP are together with officials and the TNT-volunteers on there way from Kerewan to Ngerr.
