Sonja Spierings
Biography:

My name is Sonja Spierings and right before I joined the TNT GEP programme I graduated from International Public Administration at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. This master is aimed at understanding how countries work together and the institutional structure they use for their cooperation. My master thesis was about the possible influence of public health spending on child mortality. After finishing a bachelor’s degree in business administration, I wanted to gain more practical experience and I worked a year as a full-time executive board member of AIESCED Rotterdam. After this year, I decided that I wanted to gain more knowledge about societal problems and therefore I started studying public administration. This theoretical knowledge in combination with practical knowledge gained during various internships enhanced my interest do get more international experience in development cooperation. I do not know yet what I want to do after this internship, but I do know that I will always be working on development cooperation.

Numbers on a piece of paper

Written by Sonja Spierings
Sometimes you are suddenly blown away by the people you meet and the stories that you hear. I had an amazing experience at the St. Lawrence School in Lusaka (the capital of Zambia) last week, interviewing a dad of 7 who struggles to give his children a better future.

Written by Sonja Spierings
During my first weeks in Zambia, I had the fortune to attend different conferences on education in Zambia. And although I am already overwhelmed by the many problems the education sector faces, I try to give an impression of what I have learned in this blog.
