12 months later and I am about to do it again! In 48 hours’ time I will be on the starting line with other 40 000 runners for the 2010 edition of the Paris Marathon! It all begun last year when I ran the first Marathon to raise funds for the World Food Programme (WFP), the response was good from my friends, family and colleagues. I raised almost 1500 Euros that was donated to WFF via my company, TNT Express. I hope to raise the same amount this year besides the credit crunch!

I have a recurring knee injury that has prevented me from taking part in competitive activities for the past eight years. However, since august last year I have taken up running again. I have been training for the 2009 edition of the Paris Marathon, and have been sponsored by colleagues, friends and family to raise funds for the World Food Programme. To date I have been sponsored to the tune of almost 1,200 Euros!
TNT ERST joins the Cleaning day in the Gambia

So Saturday was a National Cleaning Day! As explained in Roberto`s last story , in the Gambia, the last Saturday of the month is dedicated to cleaning and to reducing pollution. No trafic is allowed between 8 am and 13 pm! All businesses and shops are closed and every citizen is expected to clean the areas to their vicinity.

Roberto has posted some information to this effect on his blog which you have been following. It is a pleasure to work with him, he is the `brains` behind our daily planning , I am rather the executionner of our plans, `the running man`.
The first two days were smooth as we had Mariamsey Njai, the local logistics manager with us. However as from yesterday, wednesday the 24th, we were left alone to make our appointments. After all, we are big boys anyway...wednesday was a bit daunting but we managed to get useful appointments.
